All proposals must include comprehensive information, so they can be readily evaluated by the Scientific Committee. Incomplete or inaccurate submissions may be rejected.

Symposia and workshops will be held concurrently with regular sessions of the SERE2022 Conference programme. Different symposia and workshops may be coordinated.

Proposed symposia and workshops must have a coordinator who serves as the primary point of contact. This person should be readily available by email in the months leading up to the Conference and is expected to be present at the event.

Coordinators are responsible for serving as the primary point of contact with their invited speakers and for communicating all updates and changes regarding their session to the participants. Coordinators will also need to ensure that all their speakers submit the abstracts and register for the Conference before the deadlines. Speakers who fail to register by the early registration deadline risk to be excluded from the Conference programme.

Conference organizers will provide meeting space and onsite logistical support for all accepted symposia, workshops, and courses. However, the Conference cannot provide any travel or accommodation assistance, catering services, registration subsidies or waivers, honoraria, or any other forms of support for the organizers or individual speakers named in the proposals.

All participants are required to register and pay for the registration fees and to cover their own travel expenses. SER encourages both the organizers and speakers of symposia and workshops to seek sponsorship and/or institutional support to help offset the costs associated with their participation at the event.

The official language of the Conference is English. Nevertheless, some activities of local or regional interest may be developed in other languages as Spanish or French. SERE2022 organization will consider providing simultaneous translation for these sessions depending on the general interest and the budget available.

A typical Symposium gathers 4-6 speakers and provides a well-integrated synthesis of a given topic or theme with broad applicability and appeal for the field of ecological restoration. They can be structured as a series of formal talks or as a moderated panel discussion allowing for greater audience participation.

Workshops are small, focused sessions emphasizing audience participation and group discussion. They are often led by a single organizer/facilitator, or a small group of facilitators, and aim to generate analysis and knowledge exchange around specific goals, challenges, problems, gaps, etc. Organizers will have considerable flexibility to structure this time as they see most productive given their goals and objectives.

Courses of up to 1-day duration will facilitate learning of skills related to nature management and restoration. The Organization offers fully equipped Lecture halls on Monday, 5th September (between 9:00 a.m. and reception) at the premises of University of Alicante campus. Courses in need of additional resources should contact the Organization before submitting the proposal. An official certification of attendance will be issued by the Organization.

The estimated costs of registration are 20€ for a half-day course and 40€ for a full-day course.

Symposium coordinators will write a short description and compile the basic details for each presentation (title, authors, affiliations) and upload them into a single template in Word format that you can download here. Symposium presenters will need to upload the abstract during the abstract submission period, after the Symposium is accepted. Presenters will need to follow the abstract guidelines.

Workshop coordinators will present a short description and draft program, including the name and affiliation of the presenters, and will send it into a single template in Word format that you can download here. Workshop presenters will need to upload the abstract during the abstract submission period, after the Workshop is accepted. Presenters will need to follow the abstract guidelines.

Course coordinators will present a short description and draft program, including the name and affiliation of the presenters, and will send it into a single template in Word format that you can download here. Course presenters will need to upload the abstract during the abstract submission period, after the Course is accepted. Presenters will need to follow the abstract guidelines.

Coordinators will receive a confirmation message upon submission of a proposal. If for some reason you do not receive this confirmation, please check your spam folder, or contact secretary@sere2022.org to confirm that the proposal was received.

The online proposal submission system is a simple step-by-step process, and you should fill in the following information:
• Type of proposal
• Topic that best encompasses the session
• Name and affiliation of the main coordinator (this person will be the main contact for this proposal, and should be the one submitting the form)
• Name and affiliation of the co-coordinators
• Title (15 words limit)
• Short description
• Keywords
• Word document upload: Remember to send your proposal using the template. You can upload the document in these formats: Doc., Docx.

Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Scientific Committee with regard to scientific quality and relevance to the Conference.

Notification of acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be issued upon receipt and until 29th March 2022.

After this date, on 5th April, presenters will be able to submit abstracts.

We will publish the list of accepted proposals on the website so proposals opened to voluntary presentations can be selected on the abstract submission form.

Please do not submit a proposal unless you are committed to participating in the Conference program. If extenuating circumstances force you to cancel your session, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible at secretary@sere2022.org so we can update the program accordingly.
